Why Sell DDoS Protection Through WHMCS
If you run a hosting company on WHMCS, your customers are already buying VPS, dedicated servers, and web hosting through your storefront. DDoS protection is a natural upsell. Customers want it, especially game server operators and anyone running production workloads. The question is whether you build detection infrastructure yourself or resell an existing platform.
The Flowtriq WHMCS module lets you add DDoS protection as a product or configurable addon without writing code or managing detection infrastructure. When a customer orders, the module provisions a Flowtriq node automatically. When they cancel, it terminates. The entire lifecycle is handled through standard WHMCS hooks.
The module is available on the WHMCS Marketplace and on BuiltByBit.
Step 1: Install the Module
Download the module from the WHMCS Marketplace or from your Flowtriq dashboard under Settings > Integrations > WHMCS.
- Extract the zip file
- Upload the
flowtriqdirectory to/path/to/whmcs/modules/servers/ - Log in to WHMCS Admin and go to Setup > Products/Services > Servers
- Add a new server with type "Flowtriq" and enter your Flowtriq API credentials
The API credentials are your workspace API key and deploy token, found in Flowtriq Dashboard > Settings > API.
Step 2: Create a Product
There are two common approaches for selling DDoS protection in WHMCS: as a standalone product or as a configurable addon.
Standalone product
Create a new product under Setup > Products/Services > Products/Services. Select "Flowtriq" as the module. Set your retail price (you pay $9.99/node wholesale, or $7.99 with white-label). When a customer orders this product, the module creates a Flowtriq node and returns the deploy token and install instructions in the welcome email.
Configurable addon
If you want to bundle DDoS protection with existing hosting plans, create a configurable option or addon that triggers Flowtriq provisioning. This way customers can add protection to any server they already have.
Step 3: White-Label Configuration
If you want your customers to interact with a fully branded dashboard, enable Flowtriq's white-label program ($200 one-time deposit, applied as billing credit). This removes all Flowtriq branding from the dashboard and lets your clients log in at your own domain.
Combined with the WHMCS module, the customer experience is seamless: they order DDoS protection in your WHMCS storefront, get provisioned automatically, and access a branded dashboard at dashboard.yourcompany.com. No mention of Flowtriq anywhere.
Step 4: Billing Integration
The module supports the standard WHMCS billing cycle. Set your pricing in WHMCS however you want:
- Monthly, quarterly, or annual billing cycles
- Setup fees if you want to charge for initial configuration
- Free with premium hosting plans (include the cost in your hosting price)
- Tiered pricing based on the number of protected IPs or traffic volume
Flowtriq bills you at the wholesale rate. WHMCS handles invoicing your customers. The margin is yours.
Step 5: Client Notifications
The module integrates with WHMCS email templates so customers receive notifications through your existing email system:
- Welcome email: Includes the deploy token, install instructions, and a link to the dashboard
- Incident alerts: Sends WHMCS notifications when a DDoS attack is detected or resolved
- Status updates: Customers can see real-time protection status in the WHMCS client area product detail page
All notifications use your WHMCS email templates and branding. Customize the wording to match your company voice.
Step 6: Add the Trust Badge
Embed the Flowtriq Trust Badge on your WHMCS order pages to show customers that your hosting includes verified DDoS protection. The badge links to a live verification page that confirms your protection is active.
See our Trust Badge setup guide for step-by-step WHMCS template instructions.
